Leeds one and only rum-soaked yet participant-friendly art collective Black Dogs, use the CCA’s book fair as sufficient excuse to don ill fitting flat caps once more and bother art fans for fun(ds). In ‘Book of Consequences’ Black Dogs offer the opportunity for anyone willing to part with 50 pence the chance to become author and illustrator of their very own collective art pamphlet, whilst being assaulted by all manner of site-specific loop noise.
Simply visit the Black Dogs customer liaison officer in order to initiate the publication and micro-distribution of a book, the subject of which is YOUR CHOICE ENTIRELY. Once the book enters the public sphere (two minutes later), it will be at the mercy of those who read and contribute to its blank pages with illustrative and textual responses. Together we can make it GOOD. Later in the evening track down your book in its altered form and return it in order to be JUDGED BY THE BLACK DOGS, or simply keep hold of it for months before mailing it back to us FREE OF CHARGE. In either case true fulfilment can only be achieved by passing on your book to others.
For the duration of the event, the sweaty production line actions and hoarse throats incurred in the Black Dogs book production line will be amplified to form a live accumulative sound piece almost guaranteed to bore /annoy the tits off of anyone willing to pay it more than 5 minutes of attention. INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1. Go to 1st Black Dogs desk for your bespoke publication consultation.
STEP 2. Watch your book enter production and be partially illustrated in real-time.
STEP 3. Collect your book and initiate the completion of your book by passing it on to a willing contributor (the nearest person to you).
STEP 4. If your contribution results in a completed book then return it to the Black Dogs production line.
STEP 5. If your book remains unfinished then take it away from the event and ensure it is completed in the real world before being returned by post to Black Dogs.
